Consulting Services Offered
As a writing consultant, I can offer editing and coaching support for writers of all types and genres, from high school students to professional writers. My focus, though, is on assisting college essay writers through the whole process of crafting their application writing.
I provide assistance throughout the whole application writing process, starting with self-reflection exercises to develop an understanding of my writers’ values and goals. Then, we move onto brainstorming essay topics utilizing the students’ values to focus the writing. The third step is outlining and drafting, and finally together we revise, edit, and finalize all aspects of the application writing, from the personal essay and supplemental writing to the activities lists and additional comments.
My Approach
Ultimately, through our work together, my writers not only craft meaningful application writing that reflects their best, most valued self and all that they have to offer a college community, but they also discover their truest, most actualized self and convey this identity with a unique, captivating voice. In the end, students produce essays that allow them to stand out to admissions committees as the valuable person they are.

5 1-hour long sessions during which we move from brainstorming to final draft of the personal essay. Between sessions, I provide editing and narrative feedback to keep my writers motivated and on track.

In addition to the main personal essay, more and more colleges are asking applicants to write significant supplemental essays. And with the elimination of standardized test scores from the application process, these additional essays are becoming increasingly important. That’s why I offer this package of two 1-hour sessions for each supplemental essay. Again, we will cover brainstorming to final editing in these sessions.

In my experience, college applicants have overlooked utilizing the full capacity of the activities list and additional comments sections of their application. That’s why I provide coaching for these two sections. And like with the supplemental writing, these sections have gained more and more significance as colleges require submission of test scores. With this package, you receive three 1-hour sessions for writing these sections.

With this serviced, I read and evaluate a student’s already written personal statement and provide expert feedback before you hit SUBMIT on your application. This service includes not only the reading and feedback on your essay, but also a 30-minute virtual meeting to discuss my feedback, ask and answer any questions you have, and to help you edit your essay to its most convincing final form.
Review of Supplemental Essays, Activities Lists, and Additional Information writing is available for an additional fee.

Hourly sessions are a worthwhile investment for applicants who either have an already written personal essay that needs review, support with brainstorming topics, outlining essays, understanding how to answer specific prompts, or conferencing about any part of the application writing. I can provide important support for every step of the application writing process.

Complete Application Package Options
These packages offer support for all aspects of the college application writing process, including the personal essay, supplementals, and the activities list/additional comments sections. With each package, you receive an initial meeting with me, your student, and parents/guardians where we will discuss goals, process, and timeline, weekly meetings to conference and discuss writing progress, online support between weekly meetings through feedback on writing, and full support throughout the application season (beginning in the summer and straight through until the final application deadlines in February of your application year).

The packages are based on total applications we would work on together. This means that you can choose to have me work with you on as few as two full applications to as many colleges you are applying to.
